Hi, I'm Joe
A preacher, educator, and builder who believes good tools can help churches do what matters most.
I've been preaching and working with churches since I left home for Bible college in 1981. Alongside that, I spent a career in public education — teacher, coach, technology trainer, and high school principal. Both worlds taught me the same thing: good people get asked to do important work with systems that make it harder than it needs to be.
I love the local church, especially the small church — where there's never quite enough people, time, or money to do everything you'd like to. I've also learned that the right piece of technology can take something complicated and make it surprisingly manageable. These days I preach, work with churches, and build software for churches, schools, and small businesses. FiveSixteen is where all of that comes together.

Three convictions behind everything we build
The personal touch is sacred.
Technology should never replace it — it should remove the obstacles that keep people from caring for one another.
Small churches deserve great tools.
The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few. Our job is multiplying what few hands can do — never overwhelming them.
Don't convince. Help discover.
Churches should never feel sold to. Every demonstration exists so a leader can think, “I wish our church could do that” — on their own.
